How to Use Transfer Tape

Transfer tape is a crucial tool in the process of applying vinyl to a surface. Here are the steps to use transfer tape:

  1. Cut your vinyl design using a vinyl cutter or craft cutter. Once the design is cut, weed out the excess vinyl leaving only the design on the backing paper.

  2. Cut a piece of transfer tape that is slightly larger than your vinyl design. Remove the backing paper from the transfer tape and place it sticky side down on top of your vinyl design.

  3. Use a scraper tool or credit card to smooth the transfer tape onto the vinyl, starting from the center of the design and working your way outwards to eliminate any air bubbles.

  4. Once the transfer tape is firmly attached to the vinyl, flip the vinyl over so that the vinyl backing paper is facing up. Carefully peel away the vinyl backing paper, leaving the vinyl design attached to the transfer tape.

  5. Position the transfer tape and vinyl design onto your surface. Use a ruler or other straight edge to help position the vinyl design in the desired location.

  6. Use the scraper tool to firmly press the vinyl design onto the surface, starting from the center and working outwards to eliminate any air bubbles.

  7. Slowly and carefully peel away the transfer tape, starting from one corner and pulling at a sharp angle. Make sure that the vinyl design stays attached to the surface and doesn't come up with the transfer tape.

  8. Once the transfer tape is removed, check the vinyl design to ensure that it's firmly attached to the surface. If necessary, use the scraper tool to press down any areas that may have lifted.

That's it! With these steps, you can easily use transfer tape to apply vinyl designs to various surfaces.
