How to Make a Regular Scrunchie

Sewing a scrunchie is a fun and easy project that can be completed in just a few minutes. Here's how to sew a scrunchie:

Materials:

  • Fabric (cotton, silk, or similar weight fabric)
  • Elastic (1/4" to 1/2" width)
  • Thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Pins
  • Scissors
  • Safety pin

Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of fabric that is 3" wide and 18" long. Fold it in half lengthwise, with the right sides facing each other, and pin along the long edge.

  2. Sew the pinned edge using a 1/4" seam allowance, leaving both ends open.

  3. Use a safety pin to turn the fabric right side out, creating a fabric tube.

  4. Cut a piece of elastic that is 9" long (or adjust the length according to your preference). Attach a safety pin to one end of the elastic, and use it to guide the elastic through the fabric tube.

  5. Once the elastic is threaded through the fabric tube, overlap the two ends of the elastic by about 1/2" and sew them together securely. Make sure the elastic is evenly distributed inside the fabric tube.

  6. Fold the raw edges of the fabric tube inwards by 1/4" on each end, and pin them together.

  7. Sew the two ends of the fabric tube together using a 1/4" seam allowance, making sure to backstitch at the beginning and end to secure the stitches.

  8. Turn the scrunchie right side out, fluff it up a bit, and enjoy your new hair accessory!

With these easy steps, you can create a personalized scrunchie to match any outfit or occasion.
